Xposure 2013 Props - Go For The Eyes

For our second day of profiling fellow contestants in the X92.9 Calgary's New Rock Alternative Contest, we want to turn your attention to Go for the Eyes

Hunger Hush played a show with Elise Roller (as a solo artist) several years ago, and we were impressed even then. As a full band, Go For The Eyes have a big, ambitious sound, and make great use of two strong vocalists. Additionally, boy do these dudes work to promote their music. In our humble opinion, GFTE hustles probably as hard as any Calgary artist – save maybe Transit (coincidence?).

Their song ‘Birds and the Birds’ has a cool, Jack White-ish swagger, and a big pay-off chorus. Check it out on the 'Get XPosed' tab on the X Widget, and vote for it and any other songs that strike your fancy.

Thank you for all your amazing support in this contest so far!

Xposure 2013 Props - 36?

One of the coolest things about this whole X92.9 Calgary's New Rock Alternative Contest is seeing even a sample of the talent that Calgary music has to offer. It's exciting to hear music we've never heard - and really gratifying to see bands we know work their asses off get recognition. Over the next 10 days, we're going to profile each of the bands in the running, and share what we know about them. Your vote really means the world to all of us.

First up: 36?

We've known Taylor Cochrane, and Scott White since High School, and seen them in the KGB, and Taylor's self-titled project. Regardless of the band, they have always paired a kind of madcap creativity with the chops, and craftsmanship to pull it all off. Of all these prior projects, we think we like 36? the best. We've seen them play several times now, and they've positively destroyed every time - even in tiny spaces.

Head over to the 'Get XPosed' tab on the X Widget, and listen to OXYS. Pure pop gold, with a delicious veneer of weird. Be sure to give it, any other songs you like a vote. Kick some ass, friends.

We're headed East!

For the first time ever, Hunger Hush is going to push through the great plains (read: fly across... another time, Manitoba) and hit up the Indie-mecca of Toronto for Canadian Music Week. We've got a couple of really cool showcases, and are generally stoked about being in a super exciting place, learning lots and repping our fellow local talent in a far-off land.

If that wasn't enough, we're going to bookend these Toronto shows with two fantastic CD releases, and a gig in our favorite neighbor-city, Lethbridge AB.

First off, we're playing with fellow Xposure nominees Deluge at Dickens, and then in April we're very pleased to be supporting Bell Tower on their big night. Both are great local bands, and we're proud to help them launch their new discs.

Join us for a show, wish us well, and maybe even cop some new cool merch. Get ready Toronto. Hope you like the taste of rhubarb and ass-kicking.
